Food and drink (#2)

I was surprised/dismayed to come across an article warning that most wines are not vegan- (or in some cases) vegetarian—friendly. To clarify wine, agents like casein, albumin, gelatin, and isinglass* are added. They act as magnets for microparticles lurking in your vino (and traces of them may remain therein). A toast to these wineries.

  1. I've heard the same thing -- but didn't really understand it until your post. I have had Foxglove Chardonnay!

  2. Interesting! I thought isinglass was something else entirely, but I never looked it up.

  3. I have friends who produce organic wine. I must ask them if their wine is vegan.
